Nainital Hill Station



Located in the northern Indian state of Uttranchal, Nainital is one of the most visited hill stations in India. Its pleasant climate, scenic surroundings with a number health resorts attract tourists from all over India. The hill station is dotted with several picturesque lakes and the most important one is the Naini Lake. This beautiful hill station was discovered in 1839 by a Britisher named P. Barron. The mesmerizing beauty of Nainital forced the British administrator to make it the summer capital of the United Provinces. The hill station popular for its various fairs and festivals and is also an excellent place for trekking lovers.


Climate of Nainital :
Located in the Kumaon hills of the Himalaya range, Nainital has a pleasant climate throughout the year. During winters the climate becomes very cold and the months of January to March marks the snowfall. The best time to visit the hill station is between April to June and in September and October. The monsoon seasons from June to August should be avoided as the region is difficult to accessible due to heavy rain.

» Naini Lake - This picturesque blue lake is the major attraction of the hill station. It is the lake from where the city of Nainital got its name. The also offers various water sports to its tourists.

» Naina Devi Temple - Located on the northern side of the lake, the temple is dedicated to goddess Sati and is known as Naina Devi Temple.

Nainital» Hanuman Garhi - The place is popular for its temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and also offers a spectacular sunset view.

» Snow View - This point is situated at a height of 2270 m above sea level and offers excellent views of the Himalayan ranges. It is easily accessible by ropeway.

» Nandadevi Fair - Held in the month of September every year, this fair attracts tourist and local people on a large scale. Various events reflect the tradition and culture of both Garhwal and Kumaon region.
